AlanKlein 2,904 Posted September 26, 2011 Apurva: The B/W and color both appeal in their own way. I don't think one way or the other is better. One comment. You have a tighter crop on the color version which makes the photo more appealing. It makes the friends seem closer to one another and eliminates a lot of the empty space on both sides. I think you should crop the B/W one the same way to get a better comparison. Best regards, Alan. Link to comment
tamaramar 0 Posted September 27, 2011 I like both, b&w and colour. In colour, though, it shows the enviornment - outskirts of the town (city, village), road side, near the green field... makes us think. Thank you for sharing. Tamara Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted October 7, 2011 Since my personal bias favours B&W for people pictures this one gets my nod. Removing the colour serves to emphasize the basics of shapes, textures, & tones. The 'Classic' look! Your excellent control of DOF keeps the wandering eye coming back to that which is in sharp focus, namely your subjects. I love the great shadow details too. A great slice of life which, if you've been able to give these boys a copy, I'm sure they will treasure in years to come. This looks like a rather hurried arrangement and thus falls outside of the 'formal portrait' category which would perhaps call for a tighter crop. I'll go with this offering. Best, LM.
