After a stormy evening, the landscape was clean and the air was fresh. This gave the fall foliage a little extra pop. McGee Creek Canyon is magical when the colors peak, in this case, during the middle of October. Even the ground cover comes alive. The Eastern Sierra offers some of the best foliage west of the Rockies, with aspens and cottonwoods turning deep gold as the days shorten! Make sure to utilize the Larger preview!

I don't know of anyone who achieves such sharp pictures as you do.  You know just how far to go; you never oversharpen.  This is so crisp and clear, and I love the layer upon layer of colors and textures.  If this were my shot (I can only wish), I'd probably get rid of the dead(?) or sparse tree on the right .....it detracts just a bit sticking up into the sky.   When I'm able to get out to this part of the country, I'll need to pick your brain about all the 'hot' spots out there.  You certainly have an abundance of them.  :-)

Mark,

Beautiful scene with powerful colors & lighting.  I have my fingers crossed that we will have these colors this year.  Our leaves are just starting to turn a little.  Thanks for sharing.  Take care, Patsy

Mark - I just returned from your neck of the woods - didn't see any color nearly as good as this, I must have been too early.  Great mix of ground cover and trees make for an interesting layered effect.  I find a tighter, more intimate crop of just the trees and sage even more appealing.  The subdued lighting works well here.  Enjoy the fall out there - looks like a magical place.

Mark...  Well, initially I thought I'd finally discovered your propensity for getting to the shot first... time travel.  A shot taken in "mid" October but posted in late September.  I was really impressed until seeing that little "10" in the date ;-).   So, now I'll just have to save my admiration for the image itself.  As Christal said, your trademark detail and the colors do just pop off the screen.  A fine mixture of Fall brilliance and earthy desert... Mike

The thumbnail looked good, but when I viewed it large .........well Wow! the definition was almost tangible. Beautifully done!

Best Regards

Alf
