I think here you want a longer exposure than you went for to give the water a glass-like effect.  This medium-length exposure just makes it look out of focus.

I think the exposure is better this way.  The clouds do not evoke calm and smoothness, and your eye would be drawn up there too much if the water looked like glass, I think.  A clear sky would be a different story.

I like the lines created in the surf, and think the whole thing is really well balanced.  I also like the little silhouette of the person under the pier.  Nice work!

Love the sky and pier; the surf in the foreground is distracting sooo....  I would crop out the bottom third of the image and make it a really fine panorama.
