jon_fernquest 0 Posted April 10, 2003 A found subject, this lemon was used by my mother-in-law to wash her hair, I shot it as it lies, moving it a couple of inches so I could compose it with the wall. ASA400, no tripod, available light. Perhaps if I used film instead of digital with some artificial lighting to the side and a tripod, the details on the lemon would have more definition or maybe the detail on the lemon is OK as it stands? (P.S. How could I improve it if I had a large format camera? One of these days I'm going to buy a large format camera, some lights, and reshoot the little compositions that I find around the house everyday, that are so easy to shoot with digital, but would probably look 100 times better with large format). beau 1664876222 1 Posted April 29, 2003 Jon, You show a great eye here -- I love the exhausted lemon and the way the dingy grout and tiles echo its decay. However, I agree with you that the image quality could be better. It looks sort of washed-out and fuzzy. I'm not sure you need large format and artificial lights, though, maybe just some slow 35mm slide film and a tripod would do the trick. Link to comment
jon_fernquest 0 Posted April 30, 2003 Thanks for the tips.I finally bought a real camera,a Nikon FM2.I was amazed by the sharpnessof the images coming out of its fast 50mm lenscompared to digital. The sleepy little provincialtown I live in (Chiangrai, Thailand) is having a photography workshop sponsored by Alliance Francais and taught by Nicolas Pascarel, who's done interesting color slide work in Cuba and Cambodia, so I'll probably be able to follow through on your suggestionsand reshoot my beloved lemon.
