Griffin's Greenhouse is known for the most unusual plants. This

particular Lily was very large, beautiful, and was the first time I'd ever

seen such a Beautiful Lily. My crop is tighter than I would have liked

here as I had to isolate it from a bunch of the same blossoms.

(thankyou for visiting, Gail)

You were firing on all cylinders when you took, and then processed, this photograph.  The tight crop does not adversely affect its overall quality.  The detail is exacting, and you did a great job with managing the white of the petals.

My best,

michael

Hi Gail,

Nice scene capture.

When using a short focal length lens, try not stopping down so much. The use of F/5.6 would have been better. DOF is not an issue at 20mm.

The presentation is fine, I just wanted to develop a bit more in the white areas and the green leaf underneath them.

Best Regards,  Mike,

Very beautiful floral work my friend and of very well balanced lighting and remarkable sharp details of the main subject while the blurring of the background adding a superb feel of beauty to the image in general and to its well thought off composition.

Thank you my friend for sharing it and wishing you all of the best.

Very beautiful. I like it as is. The sharpened version seems excessive, unatural and too harsh for my taste. This is well-exposed, nicely framed, and dramatically lit. It is has a powerful visual impact with the beautiful crisp clean white against that firey orange. It looks like the composition was well thought out, it is excellent. Another thing that I like about this image is the feeling of joy that comes through. It reminds me of things I love about summer; sunshine, heat, white dresses, flowers, a world bursting with colour, and of course Lilies.

I am off to bed now, I hope I get a good night's sleep.

Best wishes,

Linda

Beautiful capture, vibrant colors, sharp and lots of detail. It stands right out of the lovely blurred background. Best regards, Linh Dinh

Thankyou very much for your info re lens.  This was the day that I used that lens totally wrong. Mainly because I do not really know how to use it and was guessing. But you have spoken to me abou it in the meantime and I am understanding it more. Thankyou for your suggestions re the altered image also.  The background (DOF) is from an image that didn't turn out. The original background was a very large area of these lilies, and it was far too busy.

Thanks again, and with warm regards, Gail

I'm glad you liked this one Linda.  It does us women good to see the lovely colors of summer. I think they bring back memories of summer's past, times we've enjoyed, and somehow the vibrant colors seem to make my heart feel 'happy and content'. I guess it's a combination of 'visual and aroma therapy' when we vist the 'flowers'. I love being in the midst of them all.

Hope you had a good nights sleep, most sincerely, Gail
