drjoder 0 Posted September 8, 2011 Anton,I really like the lines that lead you to the kid with the ball..also the tilted line above his head. I think it is the lines that give this image its tension and strength. The other element, as you imply in your title, is the ball and the fact that he is likely waiting for his friends to appear for a nice friendly game of football (soccer). So, your image also implies a story and prods the imagination, which is excellent. One thing, though, that I think detracts a bit is the foreground on the left corner. I'm not sure if you could have reframed the image to eliminate most of this, but I think it does not contribute much to the image. Also, did you try this in monochrome? A B&W version might be interesting because it would force the viewer to think about the strong compositional lines and the story behind the image rather thatn be distracted by the blue coat or the red grafitti.
