Driving through rural Tennessee, I watched this sunset develop. For

five minutes I wanted to pull over for a shot, but my family wanted

to keep moving. When the marshy backwaters appeared alongside the

road reflecting the sunset, my dad finally acquiesed, realizing that

it was too good to pass up. I hopped out, took a handheld shot

(glad to have an f/1.8 lens) bracketed ±1 stop, and we were back on

the road. It wasn't until I viewed the slide that I saw the little

greenish light in the distance. I kinda like it... what do you

think?

It is a really pretty picture. Wish I could shoot them off like that.

Personally though, I'd ditch the green light asap.

An excellent array of colors. The reflection of red gives this that added dimension. Nicely seen and captured!!

This is a great photo Brian, good color and contrast. I would maybe crop little of the bottom as the black is a little dominant, then you would also get the picture closer to 1/3ds but that´s just me. ;)

Wow Brain, great shot. I can almost hear the crickets. The green lignt, I could take it or leave it. It adds a Great Gatsby overtone, but you are in the wrong state. (There was a green lignt on a dock that Gatsby would look out to from his dock, I think it was where Daisy lived, and the green symbolized money.)

Usually I wouldn't comment on a photogaph for its color, but thats what first drew me to this. Wow, I don't think I've seen too many sunsets which such a variance in colors that are actually as rich as this. Of course Velvia has a part in it, but you've still gotta have fairly intense color to get it to come out this well. Also a nice scene because the trees in the background are dull on their own without a ridge or soemthing, but the closer trees make that work alright.

Thanks for the comments on my photos as well.

Very rich colors in layers. Glad you got to stop, so we get to see this. The little green light seems to me to be out of place. Swamp gas?

the foreground lacks interest but the colors are brilliant and beautiful. The foreground lacks interest because we are unable to define where the trees begin and end. its a good start. its a good time to be out shooting, but the people rating and critiqing you arent doing so constructively. it is a good start. experiment with lining up the horizon when shooting landscapes. take tons and tons of photos and see what looks the best. the more photos you shoot the faster you'll learn what is appealing.
