This shot is a parts of 2 images for the background, the main

character is from the main shot undet 'Details'. I had been at our

Annual Ribfest for a few hours and was getting quite thirsty, so

decided to try out one of our 'HOMEGROWN' Brews from The

Publican House Brewery here in town. It is Craft Beer Brewed for

Peterborough and The Kawarthas. They have a Patio out back of

their Brew House where you can sit and enjoy a cold one on a hot

summer day. I decided to try their 'Blonde Ale'. After a nice long sip,

I turned to find a spot to 'park my bones' and their stood this Giant of

a Man (well....I'm only 5' 1/2"...so who isn't a giant to me??). This

fellows face grew rather stern when he saw I had a camera. I told

him I wasn't from the Newspaper, just an Amateur, but that I did post

on an Internet Photo Site where my Photos were seen all over the

world. I kind of 'sweet talked' him for a few minutes, and he basically

said 'what the 'heck', and agreed for me to take his photo and post it.

I do have to admit I was 'jammering' a mile a minute as I was rather

nervous, he just towered over me. I decided to use for the

background, the towering 'Boss Hogs' Metal Adverts that rise high in

the sky over the 'Cooking Trailers', this one being Boss Hogs. and

then in the sky section, a portion of a cooktop with Ribs and Chicken.

I entered this in the Monthly Project. I had processed so many other

shots that I'd much rather have used but the Project wasn't

announced until long after I had posted those images. I am not sure

if this one will be accepted, but no worry. If you want to see any of

my other Ribfest Shots there is a Folder at the top of my Portfolio

where they are posted. Thanks for your visit, kind regards, Gail

I really like this treatment Gail. The "blue/black" for the B&W and the Orange backdrop are really effective.

All my best,   Bill

Great job! It's striking and unusual and cool to look at. With a little training in layout and font usuage you could be a pro graphic artist. Really.

Gail, this is outstanding work. Dramatic opposing angles, excellent combination of elements, color balance and PP effects. Work like this is inspirational, it can influence people to push boundaries and look beyond the limitations of the single image. This has all the qualities of a movie/event poster or a book cover. Simply fantastic.

I am truly 'overwhelmed' a bit. I wasn't sure anyone would like this...enjoyed working on it tremendously, thought it was kinda 'cool' but everyone's tastes are different....then I started to get 'cold feet', thought people would think it a bit 'too much'...so your comment truly is good to hear.

Thank you Bill for your visit, truly encouraging, best regards, Gail

'Well blow me down' and call me............whatever you want.....I am perplexed. I knew when I was working on it, I was really enjoying it, spent quite a bit of time, but if you look at what I wrote under Bill's comment, you'll find out how I ended up feeling. (I'm such a chicken!!).

And I don't like to post anything I'm afraid will offend anyone, thought the image had a 'dark' mood, but was really trying to impress how overpowering this 'kind' and he was 'kind' gentleman was. He just scared me a bit when he snarled 'sort of' when he caught view of my Camera.

So, you see, you are very encouraging Chuck, actually very surprising, and inspiring.  Actually I think I'm in a 'state of shock'. I even wrote 'Josh' after I posted it in the 'events and fests' Project. I've never entered a photo before, and thought I should start, but my work done in 'Ribfest' before the Project was annonced was much 'milder' in comparison. Aftre I posted this image, I looked at it, and truly thought it was 'out of place'.

Don't know what to do now, as I asked if I could have it deleted, but perhaps it still is 'too much' for that Project.

Thanks so much for your 'encouraging and surprising' visit Chuck. I do know I  have to work on 'fonts'........know nothing about all the detailed stuff..............another lesson to learn!!

Kindest regards, Gail

I think you are very unlikely to offend anyone with your work that you haven't already offended. My guess is that would be people who don't like obviously manipulated images. And a lot of people DO like your work, so IMHO you shouldn't worry about offending anyone. I repeat: Do Not Worry. And keep on with what you enjoy doing.  The extent that we MOSTLY care about whether or not other people like what we do is how we can MOSTLY disappear to ourselves.

As for this guy "growling" at you when you got ready to take his picture, well it is perceived as being invasive by a lot of people if you just walk up and take their picture. I think in a situation like that it's good policy to ask first.

BTW, IMHO this would be in just the right place if you moved it your Ribfest folder.

This man's face reminds me of Walter White of Breaking Bad,  scary, but also intriguing. I like your choice of colours. very dramatic.

thankyou very much for those inspiring words, for I enjoyed working on thei image.  I do not think I knew how well others would be drawn to it. I'm so surprised, yet pleased at the same time.

Thankyou Randall, I was so unsure of myself.  I do appreciate your comments made.

Hi Gail,

Your accomplishment here is on level or better than many album covers, posters and advertisement wall hangings that I have seen.
