Jack McRitchie 150 Posted August 27, 2011 I guess I caught this one just after you uploaded it. It's a beautiful picture of the musician (Peruvian?). The tonality and color is impressive as is the overall composition. It's difficult to find just the right angle where the microphones and pipes and guitar not only don't awkwardly impose on the composition but add to the general composition. I've tried photographing performers on stage amidst a forest of mics and spots and really appreciate how hard it is to capture the harmony of the moment and the unobstructed view. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 28, 2011 Thanks for being the first! You are right, they were a trio in an evening of singing/dancing in honor and action for children that were born in Israel( parents illegal). The microphons were a problem and very hard to photo all 3 of them together...So I tried to compose each of them separately. The name of this instrument is called"Sampana".I will upload the other two in this thread for you and others to see. Thanks again. Link to comment

jeffl7 0 Posted August 28, 2011 It's interesting how the one you chose as your "main" post has the most unusual expression. The others seem more posed to perform, but this man's gaze seems a bit elsewhere. And perhaps he is. The orange light befits the music, which I can conjure up easily. Link to comment
trisha jean-angela 3 Posted August 28, 2011 Great detail; I love the orange light...it seems to wrap one up in warmth to savor the moment and music. Very well done. Thank you for sharing. :) Link to comment

ldavidson 4 Posted August 31, 2011 The wonderful muted reds and golds, and the lovely warm glow of golden light gently illuminating his face and flute captured and help my attention. I like the gentle soft focus, and the composition is supurb. You have done a nice job with this image Pnina. It generates relaxed, happy feelings, I can almost hear the music as I am transported to another place. All of these images are outstanding, I hope you are going to post them individually.Best wishes, Linda Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 2, 2011 Thanks for your nice and detailed Impression. I liked the group but as I wrote before, it was this one that looked special Peruvian type in my eyes ;-)) even though I have tought that it will be nice to see all of them in one thread. Thanks again! Link to comment
bosshogg 4 Posted September 3, 2011 Very nice capture with a real sense of being there given to the viewer. Lovely light. Makes me wish I were there listening to the ancient sounds. Link to comment
gordonjb 10,860 Posted September 5, 2011 Pnina,My favourite aspect of this image is the far away, almost trance like, expression of the player. In conjunction with the directional lighting from down and off to the side the effect lends a primal, atavistic feel. The microphones keep us firmly planted in the here and now. The red glow ( reminiscent of torch light ) and all else pull us back to the days of his forefathers. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted September 7, 2011 Dave,it was a very nice music and he was really different in his feeling for it. I wish you could be there.-)). Gord, primal and atavistic is a very nice definition of my feelings, especially this " Sampana' instrument that has a very interesting music tones. This one especially was far away while singing and playing. Thanks for your impressions.
