I've posted another view of these odd looking fly. They were covering

some chives at Horlings Greenhouse one day that I visited. They

are not attractive yet they held my attention. Perhaps the brilliant

blue in contrast with the color of the head. Not all insects have

the 'opportunity' to be attractive to photograph, but then again, I

guess we as humans have the same dilema also. But at least we can

attempt to be 'beautiful' on the inside and hopefully radiate that

quality. (Thanks for your visit, Gail)

Lovely processing and lovely colors. The blue on the bee's backside is attractive but I am trying to picture that red eye in the same position as the backside and that would make a difference for me. This is minor preference and keep up the good work.

PS I tried shooting bees on flowers on my recent trip and ended up with a similar situation.  They love a vine type that spreads itself over other plants with small pink flowers that bees just love. This vine is called a "Love vine" or "Mexican Coral vine" "Antigonon (Antigon, Antigonum) leptopus"

Nice work. It's a pretty image and the processing is unusual and works. I like the textures you added. The composition is good too.

I love the tones and treatment here, keeps me concentrated at the insect but the environment is lovely as well. Very pleasing macro. Regards, Gail

Hi Gail,

Technically, you are improving in the use and set points on your camera and lens. The use of F/5 is heading in the right direction..........

This image is a nice blend of some detail and some artist flare with the background and color processing.

Best Regards,  Mike

On this one I could have flipped the image 180 but decided to leave as is. I wanted to highlight the blue of the 'bottom' of the fly. Thankyou for your thoughts and suggestions, and for that info re the vine, appreciated very much.

Kinest regards, Gail
