We had one here in Indiana (way out of its normal territory) only we call it the Long Tailed Jaeger.  Your image is far superior to mine.

Hi Douglas,

thanks very much for your kind comments & sharing the image you shot.

Photographing flying birds often isn't really easy.

I my case here, the bird sort of quietly hovered over me while I was swaying my camera rather wildy into its direction. Although not razor sharp, it gives a good impression of this hunter (Jaeger) bird.

Mine was over a lake, obviously a cropped image and not exactly the world's sharpest lens (Sigma 150-500). Mine was also an immature bird, and I likely wouldn't have known what it was except every professional birder for miles around already fought over the identification. Still for me, it maybe a once-in-a-lifetime bird. Fun to watch it mess with the gulls too.
