davidmccracken 2 Posted August 31, 2011 Don't you just hate it when grass gets in the way? You understand I am joking... or perhaps not. Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted August 31, 2011 David - Thanks for taking a look. In this case I think that the partial obstruction, and her glance, makes it more interesting.Fortunately I made these when I did. This beach is still flooded since the weekend's hurricane. Photographs on the Parks Service Facebook page show all of these grasses gone:-( I hope it is open by the weekend so I can take a look for myself.-Mark Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted August 31, 2011 Mark, i like the use of the grass, but on saying that do think a bit less would be better. if i could choose just one blade of grass to be removed, it would be the one running diagonal across her face. to me the most important aspect of this image would be the face and the more you can highlight it the better. this is all just of course my humble opinion. nice work! gsphotoguy 3 Posted September 1, 2011 Roger - Thank you for taking the time and providing your feedback. Elsewhere, someone commented how much they liked the frame around her eyes. I always appreciate honest comments and try to learn from each one. I guess I just have to make the photograph I like and let it go from there.I did find out that this beach is now completely flooded from the hurricane last weekend. From photographs I've seen these grasses are gone, 16 days after this photograph was made.-Mark Link to comment
sonneland 0 Posted September 1, 2011 Mark, totally agree with your comment " I just have to make the photograph I like and let it go from there". i read in one of your comments that you only had to drive 40 minutes to a nude beach that you could do your work in. my heart really went out to you, not just because of the 4o minute drive. i would just find it so off putting to work with my model with other folks in close proximity, think my model might also feel the same. if i want to do some work in the sand or on the beach, i just have to go to the bottom of our garden and open the gate and there is the beach. have a look at where i live www.ngaiobay.co.nz irene must have been a real scare for many, and also done much damage to the eco systems. seems there is just about always a weather catastrophe happening somewhere in the world at any given time. stay well Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted September 2, 2011 Roger - Fortunately, the three models I photographed at this beach were quite comfortable in their nudity and had experience working in public places. At each session there were some people, always men, who would move closer as we worked. When this photograph was made one guy was just outside the grasses. I asked Moriah if she wanted me to get rid of him but she was OK. I would love to shoot on a private beach. Maybe I'll come visit you:-)There was much distraction from Irene. There are places, including this beach, which will be flooded for a while.-Mark Link to comment
