Does the slightly OOF driftwood in the FG throw off the entire image?

Or does it help give that structure a secondary feeling in the overall

image? Thank you for your time.

Hi DL,

Technically this is a very good image.

As for me, you captured what was present. that is what photography is all about. You have very good elements making up the scene, the drift wood, the birds, and the active ocean front.

However, if this was an "ocean only" scene, it would still be very good.

Photography is a personal expression as well. Unless you have to accomplish certain goals, as paid professionals are often directed to do, I would not be concerned about the placement of a natural element (like the driftwood) from throwing off the image.

I could easily alter this image in CS5 a countless number of ways, each being appealing to some, but that is not the point here.

I suggest that you keep shooting what pleases you, doing  it technically correct, and enjoy your experiences gained.

Best Regards,  Mike

I think Mike has said it all, and I pretty much agree with him across the board.  I like the image, it has pleasing and interesting elements.  Keep doing what you're doing--taking photographs and trying out new techniques in composition, exposure and post-processing.  Most of all, have fun!  Cheers!  Chris
