I have been in D. V. in March and it was nicely warm.  In May I imagine it is very hot.  

The deep blue sky is pleasing.  I did notice that the horizon is pretty close to the middle of the vertical dimension.  I suggest you hold up a sheet of paper and first cross off the upper half of the blue sky and then move the sheet down and hide the lower part of the ground.  It is almost two different pictures, each telling a different story.

the previous comment already remarked on the nearly 50:50 split between sky and desert. I agree. Personally, I find the fence line a bit distracting. I would have gone past the fence, or moved closer to the ground to emphasize one of the bushes more prominently in the foreground and to hide the fence.
