Jack McRitchie 150 Posted August 18, 2011 I realize I have been a rather infrequent visitor as of late. Partly this is due to continuing computer troubles which has slowed my ability to navigate to an absolute crawl. Everything takes forever and so eventually I just give up in frustration. I guess that's part of the price you pay when you dabble in the Black Arts of the Technological. I'm going to try re-installing Windows tomorrow and see if that doesn't improve things. I've noticed a slight change in direction in your pictures lately Things have become less comfortably understandable, compositions more challenging. People are cut in two - it's altogether disorienting. You have become not just a photographer of the dance, it seems, but in effect a dancer yourself. I think these new explorations are absolutely vital even if they don't bring immediate results or acceptance. Without forays into new territory, aesthetics harden and we run the risk of becoming prisoners of our own style and personal world view. I haven't yet drawn any conclusions about your latest pictures; I find them much more internal and personal, an attempt to convey that which can't be understood adequately by the rational side of the mind. It seems an attempt to catch the psychological power of the image, which can never be confronted directly but only glimpsed intuitively from the corner of one's eye. I'll comment further as I view more of these new offerings. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 19, 2011 what kind of windows are you using?I have changed mine to windows 7, and it is a bit faster( not at PN though)I think it is slow at PN because of the amount of comments and photos in my part of the site...Jack, I appreciate much your impressions here, not only because I appreciate your way of seeing life, but with the years together at PN I find that you are a man with a deep way of thinking, which is very important to me.I look to enrich my way of expression ,and yes, it is less understandable, needs a bit more concentration, and for me it is like a "gold mine" to try and go deeper into life, as you have so eloquently expressed ! I find this line of work a closing circle with my last work of painting that brought me into photography. (Thats why I added part of it from my last painting exhibition). Thanks so much for expressiong your point of view, and I hope to know your impressions when ever you find the time and will ;-)) Link to comment
tibig 0 Posted August 20, 2011 A very deep and actual theme, Pnina. Indeed the whole picture (as life itself) is given a sense by the light under which it is looked upon. It is the light that gives the sense of it and yes, it is an act of balance and hard decisions.Your shot is balanced beautifully and asks the right questions. Regards, Tibi Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 21, 2011 As you see what Jack was writing is right, it needs time to digest ... So I appreciate you for understanding itas what it really means ,and writing your impression. Thanks very much. Link to comment
Donna Stavis 0 Posted August 22, 2011 For me, this photo works best as a part of a series about the rope, which sometimes looks like a serpent and sometimes like a noose, and here like a vacuum cleaner hose. In all cases, it seems to be a tie like the way we see things sometimes determines how they are used and how we live Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted August 22, 2011 All your simils are well thought about. For me it is the ropes we carry with/around us all our life time. Some of them belongs to society and some are our owns. Thanks for your impressions, well written. Link to comment
