Hiiii Pnina
How are my friend?
Like the concept in this work, the way you are showed the man at the end of the line, the darkness infront of him and light at the back show that there is no more hope and happines in his life the maybe no more reasons to continue this life, and the best way, ending this life...
Inspiring work...
keep on working conceptual...;)

We sometimes put the ropes around our own necks, he holds his, in forms of obstacles that kill joy.  This is interesting because he seems to be contemplative -- perhaps simply roped to obligations -- but only need look up a bit to see his own shadow and see himself.  The corner of a room can be a stupid place because teachers used to send "bad" students there as punishment; he may have sent himself there for something he did or didn't do.  The texture of the rope reminds me of a snake, and that reminds me of Gan Eden, and the nature of man and guilt and shame and punishment and scapegoating.  Here, he teeters on self destruction.  I 100% disagree with the poster above who wrote this may be a better choice

This is wonderful, Pnina.  I can always count on you to get a shot that would never have occurred to me.  I know nothing of the context but, as a pure study of color and form, this is truly well done.

I agree with Andrea's comment, dramatic and intense. The lighting is very interesting, and so is the shadow. I like the soft focus, the hand movement, the head seems to be banging against the wall. My only suggestion would be to burn out, or crop out the small triangle of light under his arm at the bottom of the frame. It pulls my eye down, away from the heart of the image. This is just IMHO, and I really do like this shot. A wonderful peice of work.

Pnina, I like how his shadow seems to be playing such an important role in these, equally if not more so than the figure itself. The shadow in this one seems more clearly defined than the figure, or at least further clarifies the figure.

Suicide is a thing in my family, two man completed it, one by jumping from a 22 story and the otherone, shot his heart. Pnina, one of the legacies of the Cuban people, in the last 52 years, is that men hang themselves and women burned themselfves. As a counselor, I facilitate cognitive groups for in mates, mainly first offenders after realese, and over 80% are Cuban, and the subject of man hanging themselves comes up. The reason for hanging appears to be to destroy the communication shakra as men in Cuba has lost their voice to express themselves. Fidel Castro's dictatorship controls and keeps power by killing any opposition.  Great image that has bring up emotions in me. Great presentation my friend.  Warm regards from Miami.

Afshin,Very nice to see you back. Thanks for your kind words I try to photograph diverse subjects...;-))

Andrea,I think that the light and shadows makes the dramatic appearance, thanks foryour impressions.

Donna, roped to obligation is a good comentary ( for this performer especially) as well as puting the rope on our neck ,by our own doing.... add the snake and the Eden garden, and  I think that it is very symbolic to human life in general...;-))It is a wonderful impact of the photo on your impression, I liked it a lot!

Lannie  ;-)) thanks, I'm glad it is a surprise to you. I try all sort of photogtraphy subjects and this is a new field for me to explore.

Pierre as I wrote to Lannie, it is a new field that I started with .Thanks as well.

Ruud, always appreciate your  feedback.

Linda, thanks for your nice commentary and your suggestion ,as I think that the main subject of the head  hand and shadow are the first to observe, the triangle on the lower part is a continuation that separates his FG hand from the BG one so your eye that travels to that patrt is what I wanted it to be,I appreciate a lot your impression.

Tony , thanks again for your sharp eye, I agree with your point of view.

Alberto ,thanks as well!

Jorg, WOW, I just finished answering and have found your comment! what an interesting thought it brought to you!I agree with you that dictatorship is a  terrible engin to control human being , and despair is what bring people to do someting like taking ones life and destroy it. It is  a wonderful result of all of youand thanks to all of you,I will send it to this performer!

The terrible 10 minutes.....I was sorry to read about suicide in your family.I worked part time in a hospital emergency dept. and I know how terrible it is for the family. Living in the west ,in a democratic country,  and being surrounded by dictatorships I know how bitter it can be, see the Middle East....Thanks a lot Jorg for your sharing it with me.

An intense, intriguing and thought-provoking image indeed, Pnina. Light versus dark and the shadows in between really convey the dark suggestions here... The motion blur (seen on his hand ) and the faint profile on the wall really enhance the impact for me. I like the way the hand holding the rope is portrayed in the light -- almost as if the choice to keep on living ultimately conquers the darker side of thoughts for some reason... ( it's only in the mind...)

PS: I initially wondered too about the little triangle at the bottom of the photo... (& in addition possibly a tiny crop from the top as well..?) However, removing it would maybe make the bottom part of the photo heavier & remove the faint contour of his arm... (& thus might change the overall concept..)

I'm glad to read your commentary. As it is a new line for me too it is interesting to read what reaction and thought  it evokes at the viewers.I did not neglect the performing arts, nor my work with Mesila, but it is  another kind of photography to explore. This prerformer conceptual approach is a challenge for me and I like to try it for a longer duration. Thanks Marjolien!
