I had many choices for composition on this morning. For this arrangement, it was all about including the foreground flowers. To do so meant cluttering the valley view beyond. While I think this composition falls short for that reason, I still like a different perspective, with more emphasis being on the foreground growth and the valley being a backdrop. The NPS plans to cut back trees that block the major vantages and overlooks in Yosemite. I have no problem with a 'trim behind the ears" to allow the visitors a less obstructed view. Perhaps this angle will be worth a return trip, that is unless they also prune away the flowers. Even so, I had to share this less than ideal composition because it really was an uncommon morning for me, even if the view was partially blocked. It sure beats the view from the window in my home!!

Really a gorgeous photograph!  One of the best I've seen from the Tunnel View vantage point.  I love the pastels, the composition, and the clarity of details.  Truly superb work, as usual.  This is a very high quality, professional image.  Congrats!  Cheers!  Chris

Thanks Zsolt and Chris, I appreciate the visits! I have endured an uneventful summer with regards to photography. Luckily I got out a few times in the spring, but I am really hankering for some new additions to the portfolio. Hopefully I can get back over to the Eastern Sierra during peak foliage!!

The magenta flowers certainly is a good take off point to the majesty of the valley rendered beautifully here. A glorious morning completes the natural beauty. Images like this make one want to visit this place once more - a very enticing and magnificent photograph.

Best regards, Mark

Magnificent shot of this stunning landscape, Mark.

The colours and details are all top-class and the sense of depth is superb.

The waterfall in the background is a wonderful bonus!

My compliments and top marks!

Mark, what an excellent and unusual on such an overworked location. To have the normal leads relegated to secondary parts is a good call. It lets us see a wider view of this beautiful location. That sunrise is a stunner too, beautiful pastels to contrast with the richer foreground, excellent work as usual.

I did observe that it is considerably up the ratings than my lowly recent submission ;-}

Maybe, maybe those trees in the center do not permit a fluid visual tour.

Even so, the composition works well. The waterfall, compensates the flowers, and with the warm tones of the background, form a visual triangle that forces the image go again and again ...

Beautiful place, good light and tones.

wonderful composition and of course colors! in this photo. There are so many subjects in this photo: the flower in the foreground, the trees that "cover" the valley, the watter fall and the sunrise.

This is definitely not an average photo!

You could try to see if this photo can be improved a bit by moving the shooting position just a bit to the right so the flower could have a bit more space in the left bottom and to eliminate a bit from the right.

Mark, this is exceptional!  Don't second guess it.  The colors of the flowering tree and the sunrise contrast the cool shaded rock, making a great composition.  Perfect in my book.

Perfect...  The colorful but soft sunrise, the foreground detail and the hazy landscape all combine to show the scene as it was.  I feel like I was there too...  Excellent... Mike
