All these vertical lines would be overwhelming except that they are very nicely held together by the horizontal lines of the stairs.  Is it a carpet on the stairs ? The lines almost have a dots or dashes look about them.

The diagonal zig-zag works very well, gives a pleasant composition and nice rhythm to the picture. The b&w is a good choice, strong control of light and nice contrast tonality. I understand that there were limitations for compositions and presentation of the object, but it would be perhaps better to give more space to the right, for better balance to the composition. Strong work anyway. Thank you for sharing and best regards.
