Excellent capture. The eye of the bird, the positions of the wings, the colors, the details and the revealing background - everything marvelous. Best regards.

The lighting and angle of flight make this one of the best Heron in flight shots I've seen. Fabulous capture. Congratulations! This looks like an ~8x10 format crop, any chance there is more space forward of the bird in the original?

Randall, thank you very much for your comment and as a matter of fact you are absolutely right. It does look better with a little more room on  infront of the bird. The thirds line disects the eye of the bird also. I have posted the recrop.

Dimitris, I don´t know much about birds photography, but what I see here is impressive. An attractive moment with very good composition. I also like the background light that makes the image more interesting to me. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Gunnar, thanks for dropping in, flight always fascinated me and by watching our winged friends, man has learned a lot about the mechanics of flight. Warm regards, Dimitris.

The lighting could not be any better. You nailed this to where his right wing still shows separation from the blackness. Good accomplishment seeing the light is coming from above. Nifty!
