kslonaker 0 Posted August 8, 2011 I've only done a few of these so far - they take quite awhile to do. Comments welcomed - thanks! Link to comment
jerrymat 3 Posted August 8, 2011 Kim, This is a wonderful image. I have not used the software you did, so I am not sure of what it can do. My only criticism is that the hair looks artificially blurred in a way not consistent with depth of field.Jerry Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 8, 2011 Jerry, you literally "paint" with a pen tool and do each stroke, just like a real painting and it picks up the color from below. When I get home from work, I'll post a close-up of a section of it. Link to comment
WJT 609 Posted August 9, 2011 Hi Kim. Your technique renders a very pleasing 3D look to the portrait, yet still remains, how should I say, soft and romantic. Everyone should enjoy this one for sure! Regards. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 11, 2011 I forgot to post a close-up clip so you can see how it looks. I'll put before (SOOC) and after painting, side by side, to compare. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted August 11, 2011 I'll post a larger clip, although I know it will link instead of post inline. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted September 4, 2011 Hard to pick a favourite from this current series of yours but this one is right up there. Your post processing results are very professional. They appear to have been done with a light hand. Transparent, so as not to be obvious. My own attempts at shots like these are very satisfying but yours make it apparent that I have room for improvement. Beautiful lighting pattern on her face, the main light and fill light being only about a stop apart for that low contrast look that is so effective on babies' soft skin and, in this case, also allow the eyes to shine. Catch lights in BOTH eyes! Good for you! If I have only one dissenting observation it is in the placement of your signature on the image. Too high for me. Should be closer to the bottom. You pick the corner. Best, LM. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted September 5, 2011 The signature is supposed to be a deterrent for photo thieves. I can't make myself put a watermark across the face, so this was a compromise. I usually don't even bother, but know I should. Link to comment
