Had another photo session with Winston and the mantis. Winston

doesn't look too intimidated.:) He was half asleep the whole time and

now he's so used to it, I don't know if it's possible for me to get

another alert picture of him looking at it again.

Wow! An incredible David vs. Goliath shot, Scott. I love the dog's bored and uncaring gaze and the provocative stance of the mantis. Truly a unique moment and you've captured it excellently. The technical aspects are fantastic, especially the sharpness on the mantis and the blur of the dog. My only slight critique is that the picture was cropped too close to the dog's right eye and it seems to lessen the impact of the stare slightly. Other than this, this shot is essentially perfect and I congratulate you on your timing and execution.

Keep up the great work Scott!

All the best,

Stan.

Wow; you have done it again! Amazing capture with great detail and clarity. I love Winston's face...he seems a little bored...like he is thinking to himself,  " I could have you for lunch, bug". A wonderful and beautifully done photo which finds its way to my favorites! Thank you for sharing. :)

Wow! That almost looks animated, the detail is so fine and well processed. Fantastic work Scott. That little guy is a true model.

Thanks, Stan.  Yeah, she's a poser.:)  As you can see, she settled down a little when Winston moved off.  I couldn't get her to raise her hands up as high and lift her wings like when he was there.  I took the two posted pics last night and took this one this morning.  If I had known she was about to go into labor I wouldn't have put her through so much stress last night.:)  I'm new to the mantis game and I thought I had just been over feeding her and she was fat.

The fact that Winston is half asleep - and looking at the camera rather than the mantis - is what makes the image.  Love it!  For my taste, the crop is a bit tight though.
