Hi TmJ,

A fine capture.

I do not understand the stop down to F/6............................

These big boy lens are meant to be shot at F/4.

Best Regards,  Mike

Thanks Mike! I generally like to shoot at f7.1 when I shoot in manual mode since that seems to give me the DOF that I like. However, lately I've been experimenting with Tv (shutter speed priority) with some adjustment in EV on the flight depending on whether it's backlighted or front lighted. That's why the F6 something. To shoot at F4 means that I have to use Av (aparture priority) which is something I've never used. I never like half sharp bird (most of the time) and tend to like to stop down a bit. For this one I think f4 would work but I was on a rocking/moving sailboat and I need to have a decent SS to make sure the shot is sharp. This was shot handheld also, btw. Happy ... shooting! :-)  I was in heaven (shooting birds) for a few days in Washington state last week, btw.

Aside from the rocking, moving motion are the directional changes and  ... those darn ropes for the sail that tend to get in the way. Lost a few very nice shot because the rope was in the way too.

Very fitting title!

Gave me a chuckle, and makes me wonder as the bird appears to be, . . . "what are you up to!"

Best regards,

Jim j.
