"Circle the circles". Sounds like a job for my 4 year old. In any event, the composition is strong here, the DOF well handled, and the lighting good. I would have loved to see the electric pole either cloned out, or the composition shifted to the right to avoid it; you still get the sunburst without the distraction of the pole. Still, a nice, pleasing image. Regards.

Many of the HDR images I see on here are wayyyyy overdone. They lose the image in the process, I love the balance you've struck here with definition, style and true photographic style. It's nice simple, and very well processed. Im not sure that you need the lightpole however, I see you've taken out the lines, I would just take the whole pole out as well. 6/7

Hi to you all.

I did do this in HDR. It does have that look,

but I processed it to enhance the color and details without getting the colors too "crispy". I also did some dodging and burning, especially on the spools to add interest and improve the composition.

Jennifer, the power line ended there and I didn't take anything out in this version.

In the (also posted) B&W version I removed the power line, the pole, and the tree.

Thanks for your comments.

BTW, on the horizon, left of center, you can barely see a vehicle on a road, going west.

I barely shows up at this size, but it's there.

A very unique, interesting and attention grabbing composition, and the dramatic sky certainly complements the foreground scene very nicely. That an HDR treatment was used is obvious, but it is not so overdone as to be surrealistic or fake looking, and it does not in any way detract from the photo. You have done a nice job in balancing the contrast between sky and land. Well done!

I actually prefer this version to your B&W rendition, and would definitely not remove the pole, power line or tree from the image. Fakery "ethics" aside, these vertical elements add some visual interest and scale to what is an otherwise flat horizon. And these are after all spools for electrical wire, so the pole and power line make that "connection" to the main subject in this scene.

This is a great image from a very simple subject that most people would have walked past. It is balanced well with the reels at the bottom and the heavy sky at the top. The HDR treatment is great and is handled well, not being oveerdone, super detail.

For me I would get rid of the pole but that is just personal taste, it really does not detract from the image, it's just me. The tree off centre is really important as it gives another focal point deeper into the image, and also a sense of depth.

Top job Chuck.

Love this shot it is so simple and effective at first view, but becomes more complicated and powerful as you delve into the photo. Great composition and the HDR is very effective. A really top notch photo congratulations William
