Have you ever been here? No, you say, but if you ever watch any of the

old westerns, Lone Ranger, Hopalong Cassidy, or almost any of the old

western movies, then you have been here, well, in your imagination

anyway. If you Google "Alabama Hills" you can see clips of the movies

and westerns that were filmed here.

I took this photograph early one morning in July of 2008.

There were a lot of fires that year and it was very hazy and the

photography was very tough because of them. If you look at the far

mountains you can see the haze, although, I did tone it down in this

photograph. The Pixel Bender gave it a completely different look than

did the regular image which I think is pretty cool.

In a word:  Lovely.  The colors are vibrant and the overall composition is strong.  It feels like a painting--in the positive sense.

Wonderful work on this image!  The back-story adds so much to the image too.  It really was incredibly smoky out that morning.  This has the feel of one of the landscapes of Thomas Moran or Albert Bierstadt.  Superb work, Leo.  Cheers!  Bear

I agree with Alex, although it is totally surreal, the overall effect is very aesthetically pleasing, the textures imitating the oils of a painting applied with a pallete knife.

Beautifully done!

Best Regards

Yes, I maybe said the same two or three times, my first impression and last, what can I do!

Best regards Leo!
