mike_palermiti 3 Posted July 28, 2011 Hi Sreten,Nice image capture using the telephoto lens at its close focus range. While the lens design is not that of a macro, the effective magnification looks "macro-like' to a small degree. Often, the use of telephoto lens is a better (and safer) way to capture inserts that can sting or bite. The lack fo details (EXIF data) limits my comments to what is seen,However, it is always possible that better results could have been achieved , but without the data, I am not going to speculate what settings you used for this image. The sharpness is not high, but that is to be expected from the zoom lens that you used. I know its capabilities because I have the same lens and camera, and have tested all my lens formally and in the field. I like the background, as it compliments the wasp colors well. The higher contrast that wasps often presents make them very nice subjects to image.Best Regards, Mike Link to comment
paul_de_ley 21 Posted July 30, 2011 Nice catch with smooth background blur Sreten! Wasps being what they are, this one might not just be curious but drinking a water drop, or even preparing to cheat by chewing through the base of the flower to get at any nectar before the bud opens. Link to comment
