This is an old abandoned concrete pier north of Lihue Airport on Kauai. You

get to it via an access road that leads to the helicopter charters, and it is

at the very end of that access road. I had taken a number of long

exposures of this area and pier the last time i was here 1.5 years ago, but

had never considered shooting from this angle. I decided to use a netral

density filter to increase the exposure slightly to capture the movement in

the water as the waves ebbed and flowed against the rocks. Let me know

what you think, good or bad.

Hi Paul,

I see you are still enjoying your holiday.  I love the bottom part of the picture with  the moving water.  I would even consider cropping out the pier and keep only the bottom part.

Well done,

Ben

Hi Ben.  Thanks for your input.  I had a friend from Flickr suggest the same thing about leaving out the pier.  I thought about it, but chose to keep the pier in for a few reasons.  The main reason i kept the pier in was because it adds to the context of the location.  I guess the pier was more for me as a reminder of where I was on that morning.  Am I a sentimental fool?  Anyway, I appreciate your feedback, Ben.  I will post a crop below.

Paul,

Well composed.  Love the foreground with the sharp details.  The nice clouds bring more beauty  to the whole scene.  Best Regards,
