Please excuse me, this photo is perfect. The title, the contrast, the gesture of the animals with the relaxing walking, their random directions, their stepping, the distance between them, the shadows, the 'motion blur', the loss of detail in the ground, the composition of the animals really roaming to nowhere and everywhere at the same time... i would personally like it even more with no framing at all, it would probably make the photo to diffuse in space.

I found these two on the move. This was a middle of the day shot,

which I really do not like for outdoor photography. I decided to give

this a higher key look to deal with the original low contrast image.

I achieved the final result by multiplying the original with a

duplicate layer, a graphic pen filter and some further fine tuning

such as loacl area burning and dodging. I welcome your comments and

critique on the result.

This made me smile... Here's what I thought after 5 seconds looking at it... "How could a diagonal composition with a slanted camera give a feeling of peace...?"

As the previous comment was saying, the horses seem to be relaxed, at peace, but NOT the photographer ! :-)) The 2 horses draw a diagonal, and the ground draws a second diagonal, and we end up with an " X " composition, which is really unbelievably daring on this subject...

After writing all this, I'm still wondering whether I find the result good or very good, but what's for sure is that it is at least very good in the originality department... I'd almost want to call this "Quiet Chaos" or such... Let me think about this one... Anyway, very creative... Regards.

Unexplained yes, only in a sense that he did not comment. I'd like to see the reason. (Sometimes i insist on commenting rather than rating... that's me.)

I suppose 3/3 isn't as bad as a 1/1 on a shot, with a "huh?" kind of remark attached to it as I get from closed-minded individuals at times...though I admit, it twangs my heartstrings a bit too when it happens! That's also why I don't rate as much as critique.

I like this shot a lot, but the lighting seems harsh on my monitor for some reason. It would be interesting also if a shot like this was done with a bit more underexposure and a red filter. The composition is excellent, and I like the diagonal sweep of the brushland. Were they wild horses? They are beautiful! It's a lovely image.
