This is a 33 second exposure shot at f4 and 800 ISO. This is also my first

attempt at a night time image with stars etc. The moon was full, and

totally blew out, but let me know what you think, good or bad.

With the very long exposure, you've turned night into day, with the only hint of night being the stars.  It's hard to make night still look like night, but I think that's a worthy goal and accomplished by somewhat less exposure and leaving the moon out of the frame.  You will still see clouds and the tree, both with less detail, and the sky will be darker but the stars more prominent.  It's likely that you would still see highlights of the foreground vegetation, and the division between the sea and sky would be very evident.  I've done a few like this, and in those I think night still looks very much like night.

Thanks so much for your valuable insights Stephen.  I am planning to go out tonight and try it again.  It is sort of funny, but after I looked at this image, and a number of others, which I definitely did not like because they were way underexposed, I was saying just what you suggested because the sky is so bright.  It is fun trying new things, and this is another aspect of photography that I want to get better at, especially since we will be in Southern Utah/ Northern Arizona next March.  These kinds of shots will be awesome there.  Take care my friend, and thanks again for the valuable comments.  I always appreciate what you have to say as it keeps me going in the right direction etc. All the best, Stephen.

Thanks Pierre and Wanghan.  Pierre, this is a night shot.  I just exposed it more than I needed, and the light from the resort helped light up the tree and shrubs.  Cheers.
