Thanks Florin! This one is sharper than the one I posted previously but the wings position is probably not as good. Nevertheless, I was blessed on last Saturday morning to get this. :-)

Possibly over-sharpened?  Or maybe moving it to photo.net makes the outline of the hummer a little too distinct.

However, I LOVE this image, because it's of course got the outstanding freeze-action and colors, but the kicker is the delicate little balancing on the leaf petal.  The way the claws are resting there really makes this image special, along with the pollen on the bird's face.  Also the catchlight... it's all there.

Outstanding!

Thanks Donn! It might be a mixture of as is + additional sharpening. I've looked at the original image and there's a fine halo right at the top of the neck area (may be the wing position give that illusion?). This shot is pretty sharp originally, btw.

Tm J, You could always leave it unsharpened, or create 2 layers and hide the sharpened layer where it creates trouble.  In any case, it's spectacular, I think it's my favorite hummer picture ever.  And if you poke around here you see a lot of them!

Amazing...the detail to me is unbelievable...the little specks of pollent on its head...wow!  I'm impressed that such a long lens captures such clear, sharp images...nicely done.
