Still working with this new 50mm lens. What is in focus is sharp but I

hoped to get the whole plate in focus. Was I just too close? Any help

would be appreciated.

Thanks

You were at f1.8, which gives very shallow depth-of-field. Put your camera on a tripod and try f11 or f16.

Thanks.... I should have known that!    Guess I'll just have to fix BLTs again (tough break!) and shoot at f11.

I agree with Les. f/1.8 is very narrow. You will need a tripod or support and cable (remote shutter release will help). Better light - hopefully window light will allow you to use something like f/8 or up to f/14 without too long of an exposure. You could use flash but I prefer not to.

Anyways Diane - the composition you used there and the background have the makings of a very first class photo. Lucky you - you get to try it again and enjoy it again.

Best,

Thank Lupo....it was a real hardship having to try again!  The 'Tuesday Night Supper' did turn out a lot better.
