If not, perhaps now is a great time to do that!!https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Professional-Photographers-Page/176691282373219I chose this image myself based on a theme project we're running right now covering greyscales and holding tonal values. AND creating tonal values through the use and control of light. GREAT example!!Thanks for your time.. and thanks for such wonderful work!!Jack BlakePage Owner: The Professional Photographer's Page on Facebook andEye2Eye: Imagination to Imagery Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted July 11, 2011 John,This is a very nice portrait of a pretty girl. The focus on her eyes looks very good. She has good eye contact with the camera (viewer). Her make-up looks very goodI really like the lighting on her face. The hair in front of her eyes doesn't bother me too much, but she needs more light on her eyes. They are in shadow. It wouldn't hurt to have some catchlights to give her eyes a little more life.I like the left and right compositional balance, but it is a bit top heavy. If you are going to crop that much into her head you really need a tighter crop on the bottom to balance you image. When doing a fairly close shot of the face it is a good idea to place the eyes about 1/3 to 3/8 of the way down from the top. If nothing else, this gives you a good starting point from which to subtly adjust your top and bottom composition to make it visually balanced. If you crop some off the bottom you will also remove some of her left shoulder and whatever the dark object is in the lower right corner. Her shoulder is brighter than her face which draws the viewer's attention away from her face to her shoulder. Because her shoulder is pointing towards the camera it can appear overly large (foreshortened). After I lightened the shadows a tad I could see some catchlights in her eyes. They are a little dim, but they are there.Nice shot,Mark Link to comment
