Wild Blue Iris

Richard, the iris sitting on that lovely green b/g work really well together. is a shame the right hand iris, is part in, part out of the frame. i know it's no big thing but if i were looking to buy a iris image i would probably choose a image that perhaps was not of the same caliber of this one but if it was all in the frame it would have advantage over this one. you could crop out right hand iris for better balance, or you could just put my advice down to trivial chit chat and forget it. nice image regardless!

I appreciate your comments, always!  I tried the other crop and it just ended up with too much green on the left...not pleasing.  I love these flowers which don't last long at the lake where I took this shot.

very fine and so beautiful,just the crop is so tight at the right edge,I guess it is better to include the whole flower at the right in the composition,or you could crop it all over .

The image would only allow the crop as you see it and still have a relatively balanced feel.  There was too much "junk" off to the right and too much green if forced to the left...so, a compromise.

Thank you!  I did play with that view, but it didn't "look right" to me.  I think that the view above draws the viewer's eyes from right to left across the frame and the foliage angle, both in the foreground and the background enhances this sensation of motion.  I took about 8 shots of this group of flowers from different angles and with varying focal points.  This was the only one of the 8 that struck me as appealing.  At first I was disappointed that I couldn't bring the entire flower on the right into the frame, but after playing with it, I decided that it was, for the viewer, like looking out of a window and a pleasant view of some wildflowers.  That is when I decided it was worth posting.

Richard, it is your work and it is also really nice. i spent 11 years selling flower images and sometimes i get stuck on what makes a image marketable. in your case and the vast majority of flower images we see, most are just how people see them and want to display them. so forgive me trying to make your image ready for the market. its just fine how you saw and recorded it.
