While on a recent trip to Australia's red centre 'Glendabo' was one of

the stop overs. Known for its incredible night sky I ventured into the

world of night photography to capture the night sky.

thanks for your thoughts

Hi Art,

You did a very good job here .

Good choice for the ISO and lens settings, too.

The ground illumination is apparently from some light source ff to the  right.

With your success here, you are ready to do other astrophotography captures, like meteor showers or comets when they come around.

Best Regards,  Mike

Very, ahem, artful. Excellent effect to leave so much sky above the Milky Way.

I was at first amazed to see you had no star tracks with an ISO of only 1600 but then moving down, I see you used a very wide lens. It's interesting to see how everyone differs on their interpretation of constellation colors for these type of images; one sees reds, blues, greens, purples and others shades. My MKII sensor has recorded whites, blues, cyans and reds and I don't know why.

Art:  I live in NYC with its light pollution you're lucky to see Venus much less the Milky Way.  Does it really look like that with the naked eye?  Nice shot.  ALan

Spectular image my dear friend the compostion to reflect on the night sky and the nice effective use of a narrow landscape to give the image a more dramatic appearance reflects on your skills as a photographer... Well done... MJ

It looks like the stars have been liberally sprinkled from heaven, beautifully done and with a well considered proportion between land and sky. Many thanks for sharing your settings.

thank you once again to you all for your comments and ratings. They're much appreciated.

for me this is a new experience into astrophotography. trying to capture as much of the milky way as possible was definitely a challenge.
