alfbailey 2 Posted December 4, 2011 Fascinating photograph and subject matter. I find the contrast between very human and almost graceful looking hands and grotesque features most disquieting, but then thats what they were designed for. The Church of old used these carvings to symbolize evil and actually scare people into coming to church, and also make the statement that evil was kept outside the walls of the church, of course some clergy spoke out against such like as well.Just a thought about the composition, maybe a position to the left of the frame, with the arms and hands still included would give a better portrayal of the gargoyle looking into a more defined space rather than just out of the frame?....Just a thought.Great thought provoking stuff!RegardsAlf Link to comment
