This one is technically perfect: light, details, colors, composition great job, wish to make a portrait with the same quality some day.

At the same time this picture feels a little "cold" for me. But it is me, no one else noticed it.

Great job!

I put a message in the people forum and said this was very good. The contrast of the lovely skin tones vs the rich texture/colour of the cloth, the diagonal of the arm/face, the beauty of the model, the lighting giving an ethereal/classical look to the whole image, the expression of the model(i do not find it cold), the edge given by the very bright lipstick/nailpolish/nails. In essence photography is about light and this whole image GLOWS. Nuff said. Louis

Perfect color but I would soften the image a bit to smoothen the skin on the model. And maybe make it a bit darker.. but that´s just my opinion..

Beautiful image, even if not groundbreaking. It should show us all that it's the photographer and not thousands of dollars in L glass that makes an image.

Piotr, what are your experiences in shooting people with Velvia? Is this image as on the slide or did you have to perform color corrections for the skin?

Hi RicARDO.

This image was shot on Velvia and then scanned with CANOSCAN 4000. The scanned image did not retain as vivid colors as on the slide - they were vivid in very positive way ( very much the way I like them). The reds as you see now arent even close to this what I wanted or got on slide . The skin tones were not bad , out of few shot the one with 81 filters looked best. Original image ( the slide ) still looked better , I used PS to get fairly close to this what slide achived that included some color corrections but more due to the scan problems then Velvia oversaturated. My wife still feels as the slide was much better. However I find vievia good for this kind of shot so far I noticed that I do prefere the Warmed up versions which seem to have less REDS in the skin tones. I geuss that will also depand of the light , exposure and and post scan work. I personally like the shots of people on velvia but they are different then simular shot on SENSIA or PROVIA and do have tendency to oversaturate skin tones if underexposed or not filtered. Please take it as only my personal expirience and not a science backed up theory. Best Regards PK.

Your stlye with this type of portrature is very unique to what I've seen on PN ............... The tones ........ the composition and, for lack of a better word, the ' look ' of your images of this type really stand out ....................... Very well done.

I love the color, however, I question about a few things on the image. The nail on the middle finger seems to be messed up. And there is too much hand, not only take too much space on the photo, and also posing a un-nature position (the hand). She does have a big hand, and you are showing it all. I think it hurts the composition. If the model looked up to the camera, showing a little bit more face, so that her eyes can connect to the viewer. I think the image will have more impact to me. Is she the same model posing for the "Being Wet"? If they are the same model, you are doing great job hiding her age in "Being Wet". On the other hand, she is showing a lot of age on her face here.

This is one of my favorite photos on PhotoNet. When I show people the pidly stuff that I have posted in my folder I pause for a second and quietly link them to your folder -and then I say "This is my goal" Beautiful Beautiful photo.

I am shocked because I have not rated this nor left a comment.
