Guest Guest Posted July 24, 2003 I am trying to learn to light like this. With no lighting in the background, it looks nice, the hood adds 3 dimensionality that my black background pictures lack, mine looked flat and 2 dimensional, nice work bro, a 1/3 stop more exposure may have been ok but this works for me. tc_reed 0 Posted September 8, 2003 You're really developing quite the eye for the dark side. :) I mean that in a good way. Nicely done. I might have increased the light on your face just a hair. Not much. Or, not. I really can't decide. Well done! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted November 4, 2003 Not too dark IMO but a bit soft on face. Shape is round so you could have gone sharper. Great control of light on edges. A bit more square could be also nicer IMO. Link to comment
ciofalo 0 Posted November 21, 2003 A good example of low-key portrait. The hood really makes this photo. I don't agree with the suggestion of cropping it more square, because then the nice curve of the hood in the bottom part of the photo would be compressed against the lower edge. There is a white something near the top front of the hood which is a bit disturbing and might easily be cloned away. A tad more brightness / contrast might stress the light edges a bit more.
