I think it's just another hard working lifetime man, has nothing to do with good old Fidel! They look the same all over the world, no matter what system they live in! That's m y opinion!

Welcome back GJ, I was worried about you! And thank you for your comment on my picture!

Best regards!

I was told that the older folks are quite content with the way things are. They saw very bad and murderous times and Fidel changed that. It is the young people who are very restless based on a young Cuban guide I had for a day. The closest he will get to the airport is the parking lot.

Hi GungaJim! I am happy to see your new posts.

This man looks downtrodden, poor, and very sad. Everything in this portrait is says down.  His cap is drooping down, his eyes are cast down, his face downcast, his shoulders are sinking down, the lines in his face and the folds in his shirt are all drooping and sagging down. This creates a heavy feeling of melancholy. The soft muted colours are so drab and joyless, which really adds to the somber feeling.  I like the light and shadows, the textures in the painted wood. It is a beautiful, touching portrait, if this were mine, I would crop about 1/4 of the top...my only tiny nit pick. 6

I agree with Pierre, I don't blame Castro either.

Best wishes from Canada.

Excellent portrait, you caught the emotion very well. That downward glance, sad look, cap and the background all make for top notch photo. I like this one a lot.

thank you for visiting and nice to meet you. I like your travel pictures. I have some regrets too -used to travel a lot, but never was interested in photography as much. And now... I like to watch people and take pictures of them too (though I am still shy). I have a picture of an old man " living under Harper". Pierre is right in this case. As for Cubans and Fidel - they love him and appreciate what he did. Want better? Who doesn't?.. As for this picture - I think it's a very nice street portrait that shows the character. I like the soft light and soft colours of the picture. My best regards, Tamara
