'The Cleaner' as I view it is at once a study in abstraction and form with

maybe a touch of the surreal. Your ratings, critiques and remarks are

invited and most welcome. If you rate harshly, very critically, or just

wish to submit a comment please share your photographic knowledge

to help improve my photography. Thanks! Enjoy! john

The best thing about the photo is that we cannot see the cleaner. Without this information, it also looks like something sinister with the backlit image of the man. Of course it was not your preference to view it that way, but imagine this same scene in b/w and that silhouette at the door with the longish shadows on the floor could well have made an effect.

This is not one of your typical shots. What prompted you to shoot this, if I may ask? Best wishes.

PS: I'm not sure if you missed my photo.net message to you the other day.

I would have preferred others to see this 'untitled' but it's a mess to do so on Photo.net,so I gave it a title -- but it may have defeated the photo's mysteriousness a little bit.

You aren't supposed to see his details e.g., his face, as that is part of the mystery of the photo.

Why shoot it? I saw it, luckily and shot maybe 50 shots to get this one and one other good one (and possibly a third).

That is steam coming from that rod he is holding, and he's steam-cleaning the entrance to an all-night chain coffee shop in Los Angeles, but he might as well be on the moon, right?

Without captioning,  you would have less ofa clue (or fewer clues) and I think that would have made this a better-accepted (or at least better-rated) photo.

I have not acted on your generous offer -- and it is generous and thoughtful, and will be forced to do something soon, as I learn just a little more in the next hour or so.

I preferred not to reply until I knew some sort of answer, and did not mean to disrespect you by not acknowledging -- it's just a 'heavy' decision.

My best to you my good cyberfriend. (and I do mean VERY GOOD.)

No way, this is a burglar and he's about to smash the glass to break in.

Only, he doesn't know he's entering the Overlook Hotel.

Creepy in a good way.

Your interesting viewpoint is as good as any others.

Perhaps it makes me sad I gave it a descriptive name.

Thank you for recognzing that this is an attempt at 'art' and not just 'street' which most associate with my work.

In fact, I jump from genre to genre as fast as I can push the shutter, if indicated by the subject.

;~))

Thanks for the compliments.

This was hard to take because 98% of the time the cleaner was moving fast and far from the door and so photos were indistinct, hence worthless.

Only two or three of a long series had any merit at all, and for reasons you state, but of those, I do like them a lot.

Thanks again,

john
