Matthew Brennan 3 Posted June 30, 2011 A true highlight of our recent visit to the west coast USA was to finally see the sequoiadendron giganteum in habitat. Having unseasonaly late snow on the ground made the experience even more enjoyable. Leaving early in the morning we avoided any crowds and often were the only people at certain locations. I'm very pleased I took the time to swap lenses before taking off on this particular walking track, having my partner 100 yards down the trail makes for a good scaled element to the image. The silence of this place was deafening, low cloud and thick snow muffled any noise we made. When we stood still it was as if we were one with the forest, still and deadly silent. This is perhaps my favorite exposure taken for the entire month long journey. Link to comment
