Judging by the time on the first and last pic, this shoot lasted 20

minutes and Amber hardly moved at all. Got lucky that the mantis

didn't move much either. The mantis on the first shoot walked up her

nose, in between her eyes, and perched on her head, while she laid

perfectly still.

what a tough shot...very impressive...this is where the two rating system, originality/aethestics would work better...very original...

Great shot Scott!  The image of Amber, alone, is unusual but adding the Mantis makes it unique.

Is "Wow!" an acceptable critique/comment?  I'll add "wonderful detail and light" and let it go at that.

Thanks all.  I should have some bigger ones before too long and I'll find out how big she'll tolerate.:)  Surprisingly, she didn't mind this guy one bit, and I think a bigger one will also make for a better pic.  Of course, the main thing is also getting a cooperative mantis like this one.  Here's a few more pics.

Amazing, my dogs would not sit for that.  I can hardly get them to sit still for a photo, never mind a series of shots.  I love that you dog just let this happen.

Amazing shot; great detail and light. What impresses me more are your dogs... they have the patience of saints and they are such great models (I'm sure the praying mantis work just as hard)! Great job! Thank you for sharing. :)
