vincetylor 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Great shot. And an even better idea. Sure makes me think! Link to comment
photocitizen.com 0 Posted March 6, 2003 I like the idea. I assume this is two photos of the same person at different times of his life. The poses are the same -- excellent idea. I wish the lighting was the same. The left subject is lit beautifully, but the one on the right is rather flat. Also, I wonder how this would look with both subjects facing the same direction. nickolay_lavrik 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Yes, it is the same person (my son) and the photos are taken, respectively, 12 years ago and yesterday. My initial idea was to use identical (or at least very similar) ligthing, pose and clothing. But the ligting for the image on the left was created by an umbrelled strobe, which isn't around anymore. Being tempted to check the idea, I decided to give a quick try and took a snap shot with a digital camera and a built-in flash. Alan, your idea about the both subjects facing the same direction is very interesting. Will definitely try. Link to comment
scott_esposito 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Nice image. I like the idea of the two looking at each other, the young boy looking toward his future, the young man remembering his childhood. Juxtaposing them allows us to draw some interesting comparisons...look how the face has changed, the subtle, yet powerful differences in expression, different colored lighting to indicate a new age. The use of black here really works too, as it gives the picture an abstract sort of quality. My one problem...I think the title is overkill. A picture so in tune with subtlety deserves a title at least half so. Link to comment
kezia 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Exellent idea, and I like the execution too. I think I might have preferred the less clearly defined figure to have been the one from the past, with the present reality more clearly defined, but that was just a passing personal thought, I think it works well the way you have it here. jbcool 0 Posted March 7, 2003 The Idea is great but I would try to go from B/W to color slowly see what that would look. There is another tool that you could look up. Corel Knokout. It's used for cutting out things in the pictures... That would give better control over background. Link to comment
artofheadshots 0 Posted March 8, 2003 Excellent idea. Is that the same person? Aesthetically flawless, creatively exceptional, wonderful story. I particularly like the fact that both pictures are quite different it adds to the story. Your picture made me smile, and I felt jealous for not having thought of something similar myself. sean_jenkins 0 Posted March 18, 2003 personally i think this image would be alittle more successful if you made both images the same color scheme...obviously the one on the left is a grayscale image where the image on the left seems to be cyanotype...i would gray them both or bring the cyan into the left image...i like the idea though.... marcelosoriarodriguez 0 Posted March 23, 2003 I think I would have like it much more if the toning of the right part would have been the same as the left one.... and perhaps also the direction of the lighting... (maybe not the same, but a different direction on the right side, not from the front). Kind regards, Link to comment
jimmcnitt 0 Posted April 7, 2003 Nice idea... Two things hit me. First, they should be physically closer, perhaps even overlapping. Second, the older boy, not the younger, needs to in the foreground and have the duotone treatment, since it's logical that this is about the older boy looking into the mirror of his past, not the younger boy looking into the future. Again, it's a great idea with a lot of potential. Link to comment
a_k1 0 Posted June 6, 2003 Somethig is still missing here. Hard to define what specifically... Hmm.. Try diferent lightness/contrast and tinting at the right. Link to comment
