Scott,

You appeared to have been close to this doe. The fast action is emphasized by the effect of the blur on the surrounding tall weeds.

Excellent work with a 260mm focal length lens at 1/400 second.

Best Regards,  Mike

Scott...  Chasing the 3 Stooges around has fine tuned your trigger finger well.  Excellent shot.  I know how fast these deer can motor and how difficult it is to capture them... Mike

Thanks everyone.  I had been walking around all morning with a high iso to improve my chances of getting an action shot of wildlife if the situation presented itself.  I stopped in the middle of this open pasture to shoot a vulture perched in the tree row to my left.  I lowered the iso for a cleaner sky and shot it in full manual mode.  I still don't know why I even  bothered.  It was a perched vulture....how good of a pic could it have been.  Anyway, this deer instantly ran from the trees to my left and through my dogs that were about 10-20 yards in front of me and kept on booking through another 75 yards of open pasture.  So unfortunately, I didn't have the higher shutter speed that I wanted or what I would have had any other time that morning, but luckily the exposure was perfect, even with it set to manual for a bird in a tree, and I still had the focus set to servo.  The only bad thing is the face isn't as sharp as I would have liked when viewing the full size image, because of the slower shutter speed.  A couple of the shots in this series, the deer had a tack sharp face, but most weren't.  It was pretty strange that the deer did that, but being that time of year, I bet she had a pair of fawns close by and my dogs were getting close to them.  Hey, Mancil.....here's a pic of Curly(Winston) chasing it.:)
