pampolin 1 Posted March 5, 2003 Its a nice scene. Good composition, but i need to say... I'm missing a human element. Maybe someone walking on this corredor could give more life to scene Link to comment
wenger 0 Posted March 5, 2003 Paulo- I agree. Personally I think it's a nice image on its own, but I've seen some shots by others (like these by Ilona Wellmann) where there are beautiful images both with and without a body. With these I find myself more drawn in by the ones with a person. I actually considered hitting the self timer and trudging up a piece. It was snowing so hard though that I was affraid to take the camera outside long enough to set it up on a tripod and take the shot. This was actually taken from inside the car... where it was warmer also. Next big snowstorm I'll need to dig up a human somewhere... Link to comment
vlad po... 1 Posted March 5, 2003 Simple but perfect. Lighting is excellent. It works itself without 'human factor'. Link to comment
jack_lo_..._t_o 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Again, I'd punch up contrast some. I guess the car window took away some sharpness. I don't think it needs a figure. I think the ones in Ilona's pictures look a bit awkward. Link to comment
southernman 0 Posted March 7, 2003 Personally, being from Alabama, and not really liking the cold , I don't see any need for someone.... anyone to stand out there to make some kind of photographic statement. I like it the way it is. Thanks Thomas.....Good shot. Link to comment
Brad Bradley 0 Posted March 8, 2003 Hey Thomas, Very nice capture, especially concidering the car/tripod routine. I agree with the contrast issue but I tend to like these winter shots with more contrast. Did you bracket the shot? If not, that is my single best comment for his shot. I love to go out in this kind of weather and shoot a roll or two. It is hard to determine the exact exposure, even if you have had a ton of experience with snow shots. It just is. I would bracket a minimum of three shots, 1/2 F-stop apart. Then you can go nuts deciding which one is the winner. All the best, Brad Link to comment
abintraphoto 0 Posted March 12, 2003 Sorry -- still laughing at your ' roll the window down ' comment ..................... I'll comment on the photo later ..................... (-; Link to comment

mg 0 Posted March 15, 2003 Great image aesthetically. I agree with Paolo (and you) about the "missing" human element. Regards. Link to comment
niranjn 0 Posted March 17, 2003 The blizzard of 2003! Gak! I am trying to forget it, and here you are reminding me of it. Sigh. Great exposure. The trees have a magical quality. I can do without human interest for this shot IF there were more trees in the "tunnel" -- this one drifts away to infinity too quickly. Nice composition, even though the hedges are too large for my taste. Good, clean frame. More than Ilona Wellman's images, where I think the human interest is peripheral, the two POWs (the Russian street scene and Liana Salman's image) show how people can add to a winter scene. wenger 0 Posted April 3, 2003 Niranjan - The RUssian Street POW is actually one of the photos I was thinking of, I was just too lazy to dig out the link to it. Link to comment
thomas_breazeale1 0 Posted June 7, 2003 Tom,I am not usually a big fan of BW landscapes but this one sucked me in...like your perspective! The two hedges give just enough contrast to keep it intersting.I too am still laughing about the car window! Link to comment
