"Harkening Spirit"

dennismk

This is part of a Scupture made by Gene Stotts of Palmer Alaska for the Mat-Su College near Palmer Alaska it is about 6' tall and cast in Bronze. A truly world class peice. This the first image I have finished of it. I will be interpting it to my feelings about it and making a PN presentaion folder just for this peice of work. I will show it how it is in real life and will show close ups of the images with in the scupture and play with conceptual ideas I have for it, something like this image. Where the added lens flare form KPT 6 makes the image for me and of course is not there in real life. I normaly do not like using such filters but have from time to time when they fit the subject or feeling I am trying to capture. And so I think it does with this.

A very interesting subject. Just looking at this for a couple minutes I came up with at least three alternative crops that each make an interesting and unique composition. I also like the flare you've added, but I think the shot would stand on it's own as well. I look forward to seeing more.

I find it an explendid composition...a beautiful shot with well defined shapes and a stuning color of bronze. The flares did a very nice "Z" which i think improves the dinamycs of the picture...

I was drawn to this picture because it has a vibrancy to it and looking closer I feel you have done a wonderful job on it. I like the very dark sky against the green sculture, the sun flare adds to it. It doesn't matter if it is contrived, all that matters is the end result. I'm sure many grand masters, left out unwanted details when the painted their pictures, we are fortunate that we can add as well as leave out items. Well done, I love it.

Dennis,

Outstanding, the abstract form and the piercing ray(s). Very hard to find objections. When you deal with art this good, I feel uncertain as to what's distracting because it may be me instead of it.

But here goes (I hope I'll be corrected, if it's me), In the large view, the downward ray, halfway through the black area, begins to produce a moiré pattern and after leaving the black, resolves into discrete lines. Additionally, the bottom (2/3's down the picture) horizontal ray? What is producing it, to me there is no logic as to why it's there. Lastly, the ear shape in the lower right, a little too much blowout on the top.

Well, there I've gone and let my mouth run.

Mitch

Cheesey filter, but the effect works here. Angle and light turn the sculpture into something almost sacred. Nice work.

This is a spectacular conceptual interpretation of this finished sculpture! Hope you forwarded the artist a copy of this image. Terrific image, I look forward to more from you in the near future.

Terrific. Surreal, futuristic, original, beautiful. Originality and Beauty perfectly put together. The forms are terrific. Diagonal, circular, dark versus bright. Truly a 7/7. Congratulations. i'm impressed.

It's an eye grabber, no doubt about it, though I think I'd like it better without the flare. Still, nice composition and lighting.

Beautiful use of line and form. Leaves me left wondering if it was digitally manipulated. If so the nice job, if not the a truely spectacular image.
