Self Portrait

I think the lighting is very nicely done -- it accentuates your face as well as the camera (so carefully held!), and the backlight provides depth.  I think it's probably difficult to provide a look that will be especially appealing; I'd be self-conscious, and it would show.  You seem to lack any engagement in what you're about to "photograph," as if the subject just turned his/her head away and said "No!"

I agree with Stephen . The pose looks a bit stiff , as if you were holding still and waiting for the shutter to fire . The lighting is great , but a crop off the R.H. side would have improved the composition . Just my opinion . Bill
