Satire on Lisani Otag's "Expectation"

rick vincent

This is my first Photo.net satire piece. Satirizing some of the great and/or well-known Photo.net photos is a project I have been thinking about for some time. I have several ideas. The idea of a satire of Lisani Otag's "Expectation" is something I originally thought about many months ago, shortly after Lisani made "Photo of the Week" with the shot. If any of you recall, the Photoshop debate on this POW was passionate, and sometimes, downright ruthless. Lisani had even gone so far to write a letter in his bio, chastising those who changed their high ratings to low ratings after discovering that the image was not an actual photograph of a crowd demonstration, but in reality, a fabricated composite of several images. The Photoshop versus traditional photography debate is something that has always intrigued me, probably because I am a proponent for both methods of creating photographs. The photograph you see here, like Lisani's, is a composite image created by both camera and photoshop software. To me, it doesn't matter how you create your photos. Whatever your methods, just be aware that if one of your photos is or becomes a famous photo.net photo, a Rick Vincent satire may be in your future. Finally, always remember that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." I look forward to your comments.
