rajiv1 0 Posted February 28, 2003 It is a nice try to include both ice and water. but It seems like there are too many distracting elements. I believe you wanted to show the tiny strands of grass in the hostile environment. but the varying grades of colors and the pits throughout the frame distracts the eyes much. MHO. Link to comment
vlad po... 1 Posted February 28, 2003 Rajiv, I appreciate your critique. The idea behind this shot was somehow different and stressed by the title. Color reflections both on ice and snow. I don't see here any mess. I've cloned out some grass blades in the bottom left corner. They cutted off by a frame and could be distractive. All the rest for me looks generally OK, Mother Nature is beautiful as it is. Link to comment
rdwhiteman 0 Posted February 28, 2003 I like the colors you've captured in this winterscape with the low light skimming across the snow in the foreground. The background reflections of dark and lighter values are over-powering the small stubble in the foreground for attention. I'm convinced though...to stay in warm Southern California! Link to comment
vlad po... 1 Posted February 28, 2003 Bob, thanks for your commenting. You opinion has something in common with Rajiv's one. Looks like I have overlooked compositional disbalance. Will try to play with this one more. Link to comment
jud 0 Posted March 1, 2003 The elements are here-- nice soft lighting and colors, interesting shapes, water, snow and the reflections. I'd have to go in with those that say that the composition could be improved-- although it's not apparent how, I believe there are probably two good images here that could be separated out... After another look, I think that trouble is the water that spans the entire width of the image and breaks up the diagonals that you suggested with the plants in the lower left, and the water in the upper right. vlad po... 1 Posted March 1, 2003 Thanks, Jud. You and other folks are, probably right. I already got version of separated foreground picture. But, the problem of a current post, as it was noticed by Bob, in overpowered ice reflections. I returned to original frame and found that it was much softer. Will try to adjust levels/contrast better. Link to comment
