OCULUS New York 0 Posted February 23, 2003 A wonderful photo. Stunning complexity made simple. Link to comment
brian_lait 0 Posted February 23, 2003 Very nice. Apart from the colours, I particularly like the diagonal line of the plant across the shot offset by the blackened leaf to the right. Link to comment
sal_young 0 Posted February 23, 2003 I like the colors and the subject. By repositioning the lights you may have capture what I'm assuming is the leave. While croping your picture, you missed a dark spot on the left. Link to comment
barmijo 0 Posted February 23, 2003 Great shot of a detail most pass by without a thought. Link to comment
nickolay_lavrik 0 Posted February 23, 2003 Thank you all for the comments. In response to Sal's comment, I have corrected the dark spot on the left (the edge of another leaf overlooked in the original photo) and uploaded this corrected image. Link to comment
pavel1 0 Posted February 24, 2003 very nice but I wish there was more detail left in the leaf. Link to comment
nickolay_lavrik 0 Posted March 4, 2003 I can see split opinions about the dark tones of the big leaf. In fact, I made it intentionally darker by tweaking the tone curve in PhotoPaint. The big leaf on the right was fairly light in the original image but I found it too distracting. Link to comment
mawest 0 Posted March 16, 2003 I think I'm going to side with the too dark folks on this one...I agree that the leaf needs to be darker than the rest so as not to distract from the focus of the image, but I would like to see some detail in its shadows...it strikes me as a bit too flat now...otherwise, how did you get the red hue in the sky...was that evening light on clouds or...what? nickolay_lavrik 0 Posted March 17, 2003 Thanks for the comment Matt. I think you are precisely right: the leaf should remain dark but it would be nice to see a little bit more detail in it. As for your question, the background in this photo is a sheet of blue paper. The hue came from uneven lighting with two different light sources. Link to comment
