Savannah, Georgia's charm is due to its historic district, residential

architecture, parks and squares, and stately live oak trees laden with

Spanish moss. I captured a few images to share. As always, your

comments are appreciated. For details please view large. Thanks to

taking your time to view and comment. Larry

Nice shot which shows the detail of the fine architecture, but the bushes in the front seem rather overwhelming.

Claude,  I see what you mean.  I guess they are a bit on the heavy side.  The homes in Savannah lack lawns do to the small lots for relatively large homes.  I think much would be lost if I cropped from the bottom.   I took this shot in the early AM from across the street.  An alternative could be a purely minimalist image of some of the architectural detail.  I could work well, but would be an entirely different sort of image.   Thanks for your comment.

I am not sure if overwhelming would be the word i would use to describe the green foreground.  I would have tried (somehow) to use those white railings and steps as the main part of my foreground - mine you - it may not have been possible or advisable. Just my 2 cents.

Tony,  I don't believe it was possible to minimize the bushes.  Frankly, the point of the image was to record the houses, and I think I have done so.  As I said before the only other option would have been a more minimalist closeup of some of the dentil work on one house.  That wasn't my intent.  If I ever get back to Savannah, I'll have to see if these people trimmed their bushes.

Hi Larry ,Spent a pleasant time enjoying these fine images. The first one,Dental Surgery has a sort of unfinished feeling to it whereas this one has a nice feeling , a sort of quiet grandeur & you just feel the inside is as beautiful as the outside with it's beautiful colours & amazing trim. Am always amazed at the quality & beauty of these older homes, considering the tools they had to work with. It was a time with a different mindset, they desired & appreciated well crafted homes. Not like the boxes they build nowdays Must be a beautiful place to visit. Best Regards-Ross

Hi Ross,   Thanks for visiting my Savannah images.  The historic district in Savannah is load with charm and history.  I winter or early spring retreat to Savannah would be a perfect escape from Ontario wind chills.  I appreciate your comments.  Construction in yesteryear certainly was better than it is today, although today's technology provides many excellent products to make home ownership easier in terms of maintenance and efficient operations.  If you go to Savannah, definitely stay in the historic district.   Best to you. Larry
