Orange Tremella - Tremella aurantia

According to Gary Lincoff, former President of the North American Mycologicial Association (and Upper West Side of Manhattan resident): "A Tremella appears primarily on dead hardwoods. In our area we have Tremella mesenterica. Another Tremella has come in recently, or been here but not observed. Tremella aurantia is orange-yellow with cloudy white portions, at times. Your photos appear to be Tremella aurantia. Any Stereum fungi visible on the wood? Not necessary, really, because the Tremella consumes the fungal tissue inside the wood; what you see is just the fruiting body, anyway. (All the action is hidden.)"Gary
